i think from a purely scientific point of view there is no such thing as soul. its a concept created by people to establish a civilised society. what is to stop people from commiting sins? therefore this concept was created that a higher power exists that will give everyone what they deserve. if it is so then why do good people die? why are there so many natural disasters? why does crime exist? and about the "life flashing before your eyes" thing is concerned, i think its just a recap. a scientific study shows that when we are about to die the part of the brain that holds our memories becomes active and we see these images that we didn't even remember. so that's my point of view.
